Acne Tip

Wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser.

Visiting a Dermatologist

If you are having a hard time clearing up your acne, a dermatologist can be very helpful. A dermatologist will review your particular form of acne and your daily routine in order to help you find the most effective acne treatment that will also fit in with your lifestyle.

There are more acne medications on the market than ever before and most cases of acne can be treated successfully. If you are considering whether or not you should consult with a dermatologist, check out the Should I See A Dermatologist? evaluation.

Talking to a Dermatologist

If this is your first appointment with your dermatologist he or she will need to understand your personal history with acne, and any other skin conditions you may have. Your dermatologist will also want to know what your family history is as it relates to acne. If you have used any acne treatments in the past, or are currently using any acne treatments, the dermatologist will want to know about your experience with these treatments. Your general skincare habits will also be taken into consideration.

Prepare for Your Visit

Give yourself enough time to prepare for your visit with the dermatologist. It is important that you are able to communicate as accurately as possible your history with acne and acne treatments.

Check out the Dermatologist Prep Form that we have provided for you. The form has a list of questions that a dermatologist may ask you at your appointment. Simply fill out the form, print it, and bring it with you. Taking the time to fill out the form before your visit will help your visit run smoothly. You will also want to bring with you any skincare products that you are currently using.

Ask Questions

Remember to take advantage of your time with the dermatologist. A specialist will be able to assess your individual skin condition and recommend a treatment that is right for you. If you have questions, a dermatologist can give you answers, so don't miss out on that opportunity.
